Genie Special Awards
CLAUDE JUTRA AWARD
The Claude Jutra Award is a special prize that was created in 1993
and named by the Directors Guild of Canada as a tribute to Claude
Jutra, one of the most brilliant filmmakers of our industry, who
passed away in 1987. A special Nominating Committee that watches
all of the eligible films entered in the Genie Awards chooses the
winner of this award.
THE GOLDEN REEL AWARDThe Golden Reel Award is presented to the Canadian film that earns
the highest domestic box office revenue of the year.
The Golden Reel Award is presented to the Canadian film that earns
the highest domestic box office each year. Since the inception of
the Genie Awards, this special award has featured films that not
only have attained commercial success within Canada but also have
enjoyed international success and recognition.
Special Award for Outstanding Achievement in Make-Up DesignThe Special Award for Outstanding Achievement in Make-Up Design was presented previously to Jacques Lafleur & Pierre Saindon for Cruising Bar/Meet Market in 1990, Pierre Saindon for Karmina in 1997, Nick Dudman for Beowulf & Grendel in 2007, and Stephan Dupuis for Eastern Promises in 2008.
